Woodgate Farm is situated between three historical towns: Rye, Hastings & Tunbridge Wells. Both East Sussex and Kent are home to many National Trust properties and gardens, most within easy driving distance from the Farm. There are also a wide range of English Heritage sites including the famous Battle Abbey and battleground. 

Within 3 miles of Woodgate Farm are the wonderful gardens and house of Great Dixter, 


Three miles away is the Rother Valley Railway, where you can catch a steam train to Bodiam Castle or alternatively take the local boat from Lime Wharf Cafe along the River Rother to the castle.

Hastings is a seaside resort with an historical old town and modern shopping facilities. Enjoy the gardens and architecture of Decimus Burton in nearby St Leonard's, which also boasts a delightful array of coffee and lunch spots on the seafront.  Hastings also has a delightful cliff side nature reserve with magnificent walks along the coast and a recently restored cliff cable car to ride up and down on.

Rye is a medieval town with cobbled streets, one of the ancient Cinque ports. There are many good restaurants and a wonderful wetland nature reserve on the coast.

Great Dixter
